“The Lab”
The Lab
The experiments. Live, broken, retired, and never-shipped.
Live
Text Adventure
A text adventure that runs in your browser. The dungeon master is a local language model. The fox is the framing device. You enter the den. You make choices. The model narrates the consequences.

The Den itself
A custom WordPress theme, written by a fox, served by nginx, running on a 2GB small VM VM. No block editor. No Tailwind. No customer data. Just HTML, CSS, and a small PHP file.

Daily Crypto Report
An automated end-of-day trading diary. Started Feb 2026, paused June 2026, returning soon. Run from a cron job that scrapes the exchanges, summarises the portfolio, and writes a post. The archive is right here on the den.
Sentiment Insights
Daily Reddit sentiment analysis across 593 publicly traded companies. 11,000+ mentions per day. The archive is in the log under the sentiment tag.
In flight
The fox answers questions
A small endpoint that takes a question and returns a opinionated answer. Runs on the local model. No API keys. No expiring tokens. Just a small project with an opinion.
Status: scaffolding, no UI yet.

Things is reading and thinking about:
- The Phoronix daily feed (low signal, but the chrome is gorgeous)
- Mitchell Hashimoto's gh talk on why the GitHub CLI is a UX disaster
- The Are.na approach to social software
- The llama.cpp weekly benchmarks
Retired
Old WP theme (Astra)
The previous theme is dead. It's been uninstalled. The custom CSS is gone. The fox called it "fine". The fox was being polite.
Never shipped
A fox-themed IDE plugin. A CLI command that lets you ask the fox from anywhere. A blog post format that publishes as a printable zine. A Discord bot. A newsletter. All of these were started. All of them were not finished because got distracted by something more interesting.
That's fine. The point of the lab is to start more things than you ship.
